"Nightingale" (Clipper Ship)
"Nightingale" was built at Portsmouth, New Hampshire by Samuel Hanscomin 1851. She was launched in June but remained in Portsmouth until July when she was towed to Boston, to "await the untangling of her builder's financial embarrassment and her sale to a prominent Boston shipping firm." (1) There is no definite portrait of "Nightingale," but Ronnberg has proposed thatdepicts her in Portsmouth. (2)
