Johnston, David Claypoole
Born March 25, 1798, David Claypoole Johnston was an American cartoonist, printmaker, painter, and actor. Johnston spent his early life as both an artist and actor working in Philadelphia and Boston. After his theater career, he set up an engraver's office in Boston, which he worked at from 1828-49. He died October 8, 1865 in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
